What needs repairing?
Drywall, often called sheetrock, appears in many small repair requests. A hole left by a door handle, a crack beside an opening and a ceiling stain should not all be described simply as “patch the wall.” State what you see, where it is and when you noticed it. If you know what caused it, include that history without guessing about concealed damage.
For each area, note whether it is on a wall or ceiling, its approximate dimensions and whether there are several separate spots. Explain whether the surface is smooth, textured, tiled or papered. Measurements and a clear description help establish the scope; they do not replace an inspection.
Separate the cause from the finish
If damage followed a leak, say whether the leak has been assessed and what work was completed. If a crack has reappeared after a previous repair, mention that too. Cosmetic patching does not establish that a moisture or movement issue has been resolved. Ask who should evaluate the cause before arranging finish work.
Define the finished result
Ask the provider to distinguish the wall repair, surface finishing, primer and paint. A small repaired area may look different from the surrounding finish. What changes the scope?
- Number, size and location of damaged areas.
- Access around furniture, cabinetry or high ceilings.
- Existing texture and the intended paint boundary.
- Investigation or other work needed before finishing.
- Protection, cleanup and any return visit included in the proposal.

Can a price be confirmed from the hole size alone?
