What do you want to mount?
For a television, include the model, the proposed mount and whether either has already been purchased. For shelving, mirrors, curtain hardware or artwork, include product dimensions, available instructions and the intended use. The provider needs more than the general label “hang something.”
Describe the desired position and any furniture, doors or windows around it. Explain whether you are replacing an existing fixture or choosing a new location. Photographs and a product link can support the conversation, but they do not establish that a wall can support an item.
The surface is part of the assessment
State what you know about the wall finish and any previous mounting holes or damage. The provider must check the actual surface, attachment requirements and product compatibility. This guide does not prescribe an anchor, fixing pattern or load capacity for an unseen wall.
For shelves, explain what you plan to store. For curtains, distinguish the rod or track from curtains that still need measuring or selecting. For a mirror, tell the provider about any supplied hanging hardware.
Separate mounting from cable and electrical work
Clarify whether the request is just physical mounting, connecting existing accessible equipment, organizing visible cables or something that changes the building. Moving power outlets or concealing services inside a wall is a separate scope that must be assessed by an appropriately qualified provider. Do not assume a mounting enquiry includes it.
Include removal and making good
If an old mount or shelf is coming down, ask about removal, keeping reusable hardware, disposing of the item and repairing the old holes. Drywall repair and painting may need to be specified separately. A finished wall and a mounted replacement are two distinct results.
Should I buy a mount before asking?
Tell a provider what you have chosen, but get compatibility and setting checked before committing to additional products. Screen size alone does not describe every requirement of a TV and mount combination; supply the actual model details and instructions.
Can several fixtures be included?
List each one and its intended position. Mark the most important task and ask which items the provider can accept, including any separate finishing work. Use the home repair checklist if the mounting work is part of a larger list.
Describe your installation project for a possible referral. Scope, suitability, cost and scheduling are agreed with the independent provider.
